WROSE HISTORIC MOTORCYCLE SHOW
1988 saw the birth of the show when the late Jack Moor. an ex-clubman
road racer, gatherd a few classic motorcycles together as an added
attraction at his local Wrose- [a district of Bradford] Village
Gala. The intrest in the Bikes was amazing and he therefore managed
to increase the number of bikes over the next couple of years.
 |
Such was the success of this that
Jack worked on the idea of separating from the Gala and putting
on a bike only Show with any profits made going to local welfare
groups,[see Charities Page]. Jack being a full-time carer himself
for his son who is quite severely disabled. The Wrose Historic
Motorcycle Show was born. |
|
The first bike only Show was a huge success, held in a restricted
motor garage area and the chief guest was Geoff Duke . The
following four Shows were held in a municipal wholesale market
and were also highly successful BUT the writing was now on
the wall. Bradford Council, whcalled the tune, imposed ever-increasions
on the useof this market and these in turn meant ever-increasingoverheads.
The year 1995.

WHITE ROSE CUSTOM &
CLASSIC FESTIVAL
|
After many late nights we managed to negotiate an
arrangement with the Management of an outdoor activities centre
in Ilkley and the format was to take in many minor changes. We were
hopeful that with the benefit of a countryside location and a new
name we might just pull it off, but sadly it was not to be. We are
still not sure what went wrong but it may even be just down to the
foibles of bikers and motorcycling generally. We thought we were
professional at this game but fate took a hand. Once again, more
thinking required. The year - 1996.
WHITE ROSE MOTORCYCLE CLUB
After many inquests it was obvios to all that the
Shows of the past were now a non-starter. We were determined not
to throw in the towel completely, but to survive in some shape or
form. First of all we would become a club. We had already dropped
the W in Wrose and had adopted the Yorkshire emblem in our title
of White Rose Motorcycle Club. Which was well supported and received.
It was decided to continue with these Runs at an increased scale,
and then the club decided to organise a Show in a reduced form,
known as Shipley Bikefest.
